Morningstar on IC shortages and current stock

Morningstar

For everyone who has ordered a Morningstar pedal from us and has not yet received it, there is good news from Morningstar.

We have previously reported on the IC shortages and the consequences for the music industry. Manufacturers with pedals with digital technology are particularly affected by this global shortage. Morningstar is one of them. Almost all Morningstar pedals contain one or more ICs. This is also why we (Pedaltown) have not received any pedals from Morningstar pedals since the second half of 2022.

The global chip shortage has finally caught up. Morningstar had processor chips on order since March 2021 (and many more after that) that were initially scheduled to be delivered in June 2021, but the delivery have been repeatedly delayed and pushed back throughout 2021 and 2022. The currently estimated delivery date is now July 2023 and that is being optimistic.

For the ML10X, they are contemplating whether to switch processors or just wait for stocks to arrive. And they are considering doing a lower cost ML5X focusing on only re-ordering capabilities and simplicity like the ML5. On a brighter note, we’ve stocked up on a different processor that will get them through 2023. The MC6 PRO is expected to be ready early Feb, and we’ll have more information on that soon. A MC8 PRO is not in the works yet but is probable for end 2023 (maybe!).
