Anasounds Tape Preamp is a preamp and inspired by the JFET preamp circuit of a popular tape echo from the 70’s.

Many musicians, such as Eric Johnson, have used their tape echoes in a different way, using the preamp alone, without the echo. The use as a dirty boost to overload their amps and make them saturate while bringing a unique character.

The Tape Preamp was , known for its unique delay and warm preamp. Of course, we couldn’t stop there, and we redesigned the circuit in our own way to offer a whole new range of tones, while keeping the original character of the effect. All of this without the need for a real tape echo.

The pedal allows you to adjust the voltage of the internal circuit from 3 to 27 volts. From a broken console-like preamp, to a rich and expressive saturation. All this from your standard 9V power supply, the pedal takes care of everything!

The pedal has 2 knobs and a switch. The Louder knob acts on both the volume and gain of the preamp, to overload the input of an amp. The Dynamic knob changes the bias and voltage from 3 to 27V, from a broken console type preamp to an expressive boost. The Bass toggle switch adjusts the low end of your signal.

I didn’t expect to get so addicted so quickly to this pedal. It enables you to increase the dynamic range of your amp by a massive amount. My Two Rock Traditional Clean is hardly a slouch in that department but with this pedal’s Dnyamic setting at 2 it sounds so much more lush, and it is massively more responsive to your pick attack. My TC’s master volume in the home is normally at 0.5 as even at 20W setting it is such a loud amp. With this pedal I get the response back that I normally only would get with my ears bleeding. So I get the headroom back. Perfect for the intro to Riviera Paradise or any other clean playing. This pedal undoubtedly has other tricks up its sleeve, I have only had it for a couple of days but this one trick alone was worth the price.
