Electro Harmonix Crash Pad is one of the most distinctive lines of analog drum synthesizers form EHX that included the Crash Pad.

Like the original from 1980, the Crash Pad can create an array of drum sounds and other-worldly oscillation sweeps, as well as process external sounds thru its resonant filter.

The Crash Pad uses analog synthesis techniques–such as resonant filter sweeps of a noise source–to create a range of drum sounds from cymbals to snares to otherworldly oscillation sweeps.

Trigger the Crash Pad from the on-board push button or an external, non-MIDI, electronic drum pad. Pass external sounds through the resonant filter via the auxilliary input. Use the expression pedal/CV input for external control over the filter in real-time.

Electro Harmonix

Electro-Harmonix (EHX) is an American company known for manufacturing electronic audio equipment, particularly effects pedals for musicians. Founded in 1968 by Mike Matthews, the company is headquartered in New York City. EHX gained fame in the 1970s for creating innovative and iconic guitar pedals that shaped the sound of modern music, most notably the Big Muff Pi distortion pedal, used by numerous legendary guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Jack White.

Financial struggles in early 1980s

The company initially thrived by producing various effects pedals, including fuzz, distortion, and delay units. However, EHX faced financial struggles in the early 1980s, leading to a temporary halt in production. In the 1990s, the company relaunched and resumed production, continuing to innovate and expand its product lineup to include effects for bass, synthesizers, and other instruments. Electro-Harmonix pedals are known for their high-quality, unique sound, and durability, making them a favorite among musicians in genres ranging from rock and punk to experimental and electronic music. Today, the brand is recognized worldwide for its contributions to audio effects and maintains a strong presence in the music industry.
