Darkglass Microtubes X Ultra greatly expands on the already immense versatility of the Microtubes X7. Featuring all the great controls that its predecessor has that allows users to select exactly what frequencies they want to compress and saturate for the low and treble respectively, but with four major additions providing an additional layer of flexibility, while maintaining the same compact footprint, making it an extremely complete tool for the modern bassist.
The pedal has a cabinet simulation impulse response, a micro-USB B port to connect to PC/Mac to load a different Virtual Cabinet through the Darkglass Suite. A 3.5mm headphone output is added with cabinet simulation and a balanced XLR output with switchable cabinet simulation is also added.
The pedal has 6 knobs and a graphic EQ section with 7 sliders. The Low Comp knob Sets the amount of compression for the low-pass signal. The Low Level knob sets the output volume of the low-pass signal. The High Drive knob sets the amount of distortion for the high pass side. The High Level knob sets the output volume of the distorted high-pass signal.
The High Pass Frequency knob controls the cutoff frequency to be distorted, ranging from 100Hz (for thicker, fuzzier saturation) or 1kHz for ultra-sharp definition. The Low Pass Frequency knob controls the cutoff frequency to be mixed back to the high-pass side. Ranging from 50Hz (for only sub-bass) and 500Hz to preserve some clean mids.
There are 7 sliders on the pedal. The Master slider sets the overall volume of the unit. The Low shelf slider boosts or cuts frequencies around 80 hZ by 12 dB. The 250 Hz slider boosts or cuts frequencies around 250 Hz by 12 dB. The 500 Hz, 1.5 kHz and 3 kHz sliders boost or cut frequencies around their areas. And the High shelf does the same with frequencies around 5 kHz.
The pedal is powered by a standard 9 volts power supply (sold separately).
