Strymon Olivera Vintage Oil Can Echo is an emulation of this echo from the late 1950s, known for their dark, modulated, and organic delay effects.

It captures the mechanical warmth and quirky modulation of the original Tel-Rey designs using a new algorithm that faithfully reproduces their unpredictable character. The first oil can echoes (by Tel-Rey, 1959) used a rotating can filled with conductive oil instead of tape, creating a murky, vibey sound unlike traditional tape delays. Olivera replicates this behavior, producing lush, evolving textures and thick modulation.
The pedal  combines vintage tone with modern usability, offering:
•Stereo operation with independent L/R processing
•Simplified controls and support for expression pedals & MultiSwitch
•Delay spillover to keep echoes when bypassed
•Class A JFET preamp for clarity and dynamics
•MIDI & USB for patch recall, control, and firmware updates
•Rugged build with premium components

The pedal is powered by a standard 9 volts power supply (not included) and dras 250 milliamps.
