Alexander Pedals Velvet Noise

Alexander Pedals Velvet Noise is a stereo widener based on acoustic research into how the human brain perceives spatiality. Most stereo wideners create width through phase shifts, delays, or frequency processing. This results in a naturally wider stereo image without the center of your sound losing power or definition.

The core of the pedal is so-called velvet-noise decorrelation. This subtly makes the left and right channels less alike, similar to how sound is distributed in real acoustic spaces. The result is a spacious and wide stereo image that holds up well in mono, on headphones, and within a full mix.

Operation is particularly simple: you determine how much stereo widening is added with a single knob. At the far left, the original signal remains unaffected, while turning the knob further open adds more and more of the processed signal. At maximum settings, subtle modulation ensures extra strong stereo separation, with minimal latency and without unwanted phase issues or pumping effects.

The pedal works with both a mono and a stereo input signal. The power supply (9 volts) is not included.
