J Rockett The Jeff Archer features true NOS Russian germanium diodes and has now become a feature on a legendary guitarist’s pedalboard replacing the Klon as heard all over the album “Loud Hailer” and on stage. Accompanying the NOS diodes, several key components found in the original Archer have been replaced with vintage NOS variants.
The results are what Rockett believes to be the best sounding iteration of that mythical circuit to date. These pedals are hand-signed, serialized, and dated by Jay Rockett. The pedal is a versatile overdrive/boost with amazing headroom that is designed to help you cut through the mix. Please experiment with settings and be careful with the output….this dude is loud!
The volume control is very powerful and drives fairly hard relatively early. This allows you to hit the front end of an amp or pedal to get very aggressive or crystal clear. The Treble control is a very effective EQ that goes from dark to a very “chimey”, bright tone. It’s great to create that midrange clarity.
The gain also acts as a mixer control between the clean boost and the gain. Turn the gain all the way down and your output becomes the volume for all clean boost. Start blending in the gain control and it will simultaneously reduce clean volume & introduce gain…..somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot or mix of the two….experiment!!
J Rockett Audio Designs is a boutique guitar pedal manufacturer known for creating high-quality, hand-built effects pedals, particularly overdrives and distortions. Founded in 2006 by Chris Van Tassel and Jay Rockett, the company initially aimed to produce pedals that catered to the demands of professional musicians seeking reliable and sonically versatile gear.
Tribute to the Klon Centaur
J Rockett gained widespread recognition with the release of pedals like the Archer, a tribute to the famous Klon Centaur overdrive, which became a hallmark of their lineup. Their pedals are favored for their durability, clarity, and ability to enhance a wide range of guitar tones. They offer a diverse range of effects, including delays, fuzz, modulation, and boost pedals, often inspired by vintage sounds but with modern reliability and flexibility.
The company’s products are highly regarded among musicians for their tone and build quality, and many of their pedals are staples on the pedalboards of professional guitarists.
