Overdrive pedal

Overdrive pedal
An overdrive pedal is often the first effect pedal a guitarist purchases. All overdrives mimic the effect of an overdriven tube amp. But without the high noise level that often accompanies it. In addition overdrives give your signal a boost and your amplifier a nice edge.

At the moment every brand has one or more overdrives. This often makes it difficult to make a choice. Some overdrive pedals have a neutral character without emphasizing specific frequencies. These pedals are known as ‘transparent’. However, many pedals have a boost in the midrange, the most famous of which is the Tube Screamer. In addition, many pedals are based on well-known brands of tube amps, such as  Dumble, Fender and Marshall  tube amps. And some pedals are based iconic pedals like the Klon, Bluesbraker and Tube Screamer.

The overdrive pedal has been around for about 70 years and can be heard on the radio every day. It is suitable for many different styles of music. Compared to Distortion and Fuzz, overdrive is the least intense and the most mild effect. An overdrive pedal produces many pleasant overtones and it also provides compression of your signal. Depending on the pedal you choose, that is a very little or a lot of compression.

Almost every brand has one or more overdrives in its line-up. Whatever type of distortion you are looking for there are often dozens of them. This page is a good starting point for your search for the perfect one.
