Instrument cable

Instrument cable
A good instrument cable with which you connect your guitar to your amplifier and/or to your guitar pedals is indispensable. This is often also a part that you want to save on first, partly due to the fact that there are very cheap cables on the market. However, that is not a wise thing to do, the chance that your guitar signal is negatively affected by a bad cable is certainly present.

Quality of an instrument cable
It’s also good to know that the quality of the cable you use to connect your guitar is more important than the cable you use to connect your pedals to your amp. This is because the signal from your guitar is much ‘smaller’ than the signal coming from your pedals. A cable that is not properly shielded causes a relatively large amount of interference with a very small signal. With a somewhat stronger signal you will have less trouble with this.

Jack-jack cable
An instrument cable has the same plug on each end, also known as a ‘jack’ and is 6.3 mm. There are two types of jack plugs: straight (normal) and angled. In addition, there are TS (Tip Sleeve) and TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) jack plugs. Also known as mono, the TS jack plug is the one you need for your guitar. TRS jack plugs are for stereo signals. In addition to normal cables, you also have curled cords that are sometimes useful, for example if you are afraid of tripping over your cable or simply because it looks cool.
